| Unity in the Foothills, a member of Unity Worldwide Ministries, serves as a peace center and spiritual beacon for its members and the surrounding area. We are a vibrant, growing community offering spiritual services and Youth Education every Sunday at 10:30 AM, and programs throughout the week.
Unity in the Foothills honors everyone's individual spiritual journey and pathway to God and believes that God is good and omnipresent. We are dedicated to continuing the dream we share with many in Unity, to co-create a world that works for all.
We are guided by our new minister, Reverend William (Bill) Heller, and our Board of Trustees who, along with many volunteers and ministries, continue to forward Unity's message of life and wholeness. Together we continue to build Unity in the Foothills, serving Torrington, Litchfield County, and beyond. We offer a dynamic service, focusing on Practical Christianity, learning to apply the teachings of Jesus the Christ through our lives daily. As Unity, we welcome other teachings that forward the central message Jesus awakened to; we are each the Divine expression of a Loving Creator. We offer affirmative prayer, gracefully and gratefully knowing of the Love of God within everyone. At our services on Sunday Mornings, be prepared to be dazzled and uplifted by our team of professional musicians.
For 2012, we have introduced our initial schedule of classes, workshops, outreach activities, and social gatherings, to deepen love and wholeness in our lives. Prayer is available at any time through our minister, our licensed Unity Teacher, and our committed team of prayer team. You are welcome to join us to learn and to contribute to the personal Spiritual growth experienced through Unity. Our social activities include picnics, drumming circles, concerts, and an annual banquet. There is no shortage of fun and strong feelings of community bonding and friendship within our group which we look forward to sharing with new members.
We are very excited and proud about our enhanced community outreach, both local and international. On March 10th we will be collecting used suitcases and duffel bags for foster children throughout Connecticut. We provide canned food and financial assistance to our local food bank. We participated in Torrington's first "Day of the Child" event and are looking forward to once again assisting the Torrington Early Childhood Collaborative provide "back to school" clothing and supplies to needy local children. In addition, we have been donating Christmas presents to Torrington children for five years now. Recently, our Youth Director arranged for the Youth of Unity to purchase and prepare packages of items needed by the Homeless in Torrington. We host the very popular "Conscious Evolution" Meet-up group each month, and we hosted Souls4Soles, a charity collecting gently used shoes to distribute free of charge to people in need all over the world. We have participated with Kiva.org, an online microfinance initiative and are currently investigating participation in a community cleanup effort as well as other endeavors.
